My youngest son (6) exclaimed that today as he spelled Toys “R” Us. I laughed and filed it away with many other terms that have become Michaelisms in our house. A few hours later it began to eat at me as I thought what does that mean for me. How many people in a day do I look at with my eyes closed.
I drive down a major road every day and see the hookers and drug addicts walking looking for the next fix. I look at the woman in line in front of me at Wal-Mart and I wonder if she knows Jesus but I never offer to talk. I have wanted to ask the waitress if we could pray for her when we were getting our meals but I have only done it once.
Every day we all look at hundreds of people who need Jesus, but we don’t strike up a conversation, or even say, “Hi.” I know this is true for me, it may not be true for you but the next time you look at someone ask God to give you an in, or if you are driving by at least ask God to put that person on your heart so you can pray for them. I know I can’t reach them all, but we can together if we stop looking with our eyes closed.
Update: Just found this post at Tony Morgan Live. It says a lot of what I am saying but explains it better. Ministry is Messy and Kraig Krempa said it in Stop Rubbernecking
