Another Look At Jesus

Who Knew Jesus Was coming?

Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12 Tells the story of the coming messiah of Israel.  Prophecy is sometimes a touchy subject but indulge me for a minute.

When I first became a Christian I read this story and could not believe how seemingly obvious it was to see how this passage tells of Jesus’ death for our sins.  I then also could not believe that it was written 800 years before he was born.  If they knew he was coming and what it would be like for him why did more of the Jewish leaders not know.

It is a simple answer of, You See What You Want To. I could see that this describes Jesus because I am looking at it with a 2000 year old Christian lens that tells me this is what Jesus did.  The Jews thought the Messiah was coming but they thought he was going to kill all the Romans and finally make them free.  This example does not fit their messiah.

What does your Messiah look like?

Since the holiday season is coming take time to look at not only the birth story found in Matthew and Luke, but look at the life and death of Jesus.  What can you learn new about him and what he taught?  What can you see this time that maybe you missed before?  how can his life change yours?

If they missed him we can too.
